Description / Envy Zinnia Seeds

Envy Zinnia stands out in the garden with its magnificent lime tones, offering an easy growth experience similar to its more traditionally colored relatives. This unique variety brings a refreshing splash of color to both outdoor spaces and indoor arrangements. Boasting 2-inch wide, semi-double blooms that maintain their beauty in the garden or vase, Envy Zinnia presents a striking choice for gardeners seeking something out of the ordinary.

Reaching up to 30 inches in height and spreading about a foot wide, this zinnia strikes a perfect balance in size, fitting beautifully into a variety of garden spaces without being too imposing or too diminutive. As the summer warmth settles in, these plants burst into a profusion of blooms, continuously flowering throughout the season, especially when the spent flowers are cut to encourage new growth.

For those aiming to achieve the deepest lime-green hue in their blooms, a location with partial shade is ideal, especially in hotter climates. Conversely, planting them in full sun will bring out a more yellow-toned chartreuse, offering versatility in garden design. Envy Zinnia pairs wonderfully with bold colors like white, red, and black, creating striking contrasts that captivate the eye.

Like other zinnias, this variety is incredibly easy to cultivate, drawing butterflies to your garden. It excels in beds, borders, and containers and is an excellent candidate for cut flower arrangements. To keep the plants healthy and vibrant, ensure they are planted in well-drained soil and water them in a manner that keeps the foliage dry, either with ground-based irrigation or early morning watering to avoid mildew.

Spacing the plants appropriately is crucial to prevent overcrowding and promote air circulation, further mitigating the risk of disease. When it comes to vase life, Envy Zinnia's sturdy stems ensure that it maintains its appealing upright position, making it a valuable addition to any floral arrangement.

Too tall 0 people found this helpful

I planted these this year, full sun. Color a disappointment, very washed out. More yellow green. They were also extremely tall, almost 3 + feet. Had to be staked unless you cut very frequently. Not too bad in the vase just not a great green. I will try next year in more shade.

I didn't get a good germination rate of these and the few that did are not doing great.

Less Than Half Germinated 0 people found this helpful

I have these growing now, about 1" to 2" tall, but I bought a seed pack of 50, and only about 18 germinate and produced a plant. I live in zone 8b, central Texas. But I guess, if I get 12 green zinnias, I will still be happy with this rarity.

Not so green 0 people found this helpful

I love trying different zinnias from seed so planted Envy. The plants grew well, but in full sun, they took on a dull, cream color which was a disappointment. I will try them once more and plant a couple in partial shade to if that makes a difference.

This gorgous zinnia will make your neighbors green with envy 0 people found this helpful

    Rating

I grew this in 2013, but not this last year and I was very sorry. I kept looking for that one stray Green Zinnia that might have gotten in a pot by accident. I will make sure I have plenty "Envy" Zinnias in the future. It preformed equally well in full sun and partial shade. The color was beautiful wherever it grew. It was really nice in a vase in the house where it lasted quite a long time. I didn't think I would like a green flower because that is the leafs color. I thought a green flower would get lost among the green leaves. They don't. I will try other green flowers now that I know how pretty a green flower can be. Grow "Envy" Zinnia and you won't be disappointed.
